PRESIDENT ARIF ALVI TO ADMINISTER OATH TO PERVAIZ ELAHI
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the newly elected chief minister of Punjab, will be sworn in by President Arif Alvi after Governor Punjab Baligh ur Rehman declined to do so, according to ARY News on Tuesday.
Details indicate that despite requests from the Supreme Court, Governor of Punjab Baligh ur Rehman declined to administer the oath to Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).
Pervaiz Elahi and PTI leaders arrived at the Governor House, according to sources, however he was not permitted to enter the building.
The President's Office said that the Punjab Chief Minister's swearing-in ceremony will now take place at Aiwan-e-Saddar at 2am. A special aircraft will transport Pervaiz Elahi to Islamabad.
Today's Supreme Court bench is made up of three people.
