PUTIN SAYS NO ONE CAN WIN A NUCLEAR WAR

There would be no winners in a nuclear war, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who stated this on Monday.

More than five months into his assault on Ukraine, Putin made the remark in a letter to attendees of a conference on the nuclear non-proliferation pact (NPT).

He declared, "We stand for equal and indivisible security for all members of the global community. We proceed from the idea that there can be no winners in a nuclear war and it should never be unleashed.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, there has been an increase in fear around the world on the possibility of a nuclear exchange. Putin specifically mentioned Russia's nuclear arsenal in a speech at the time and cautioned international nations against any attempts to meddle.

Whoever tries to stop us should be aware that Russia will respond right away. And it will bring about effects that you have never before experienced in your life," he stated. Days later, he gave the order to activate Russia's nuclear forces.

Geopolitical tensions have reached heights not seen since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis as a result of the war in Ukraine.

"The potential of nuclear conflict, long inconceivable, is again back within the realm of possibility," said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in March.

Politicians from both Russia and the US have publicly discussed the possibility of a third world war. According to William Burns, director of the CIA, "none of us can take lightly the threat posed by a hypothetical recourse to tactical nuclear weapons or low-yield nuclear weapons" in light of the defeats Russia had seen in Ukraine.

The West is waging a "proxy war" against Russia, according to Russia, whose military doctrine permits the deployment of nuclear weapons in the event of an existential threat to the Russian state. This accusation stems from the West arming Ukraine and enforcing sanctions against Moscow.
